Toyota Recalls Its Cars Again

toyota

Toyota withdrew on Wednesday, nearly 1.7 million cars by a gas leak, the latest episode in a growing number of quality problems that could cause another setback in his already tarnished reputation in the important U.S. market. Japanese automaker Toyota Motor Corp. said it would recall several models, including Lexus luxury models and GS in North America and the Avensis sedan in Europe. It also removed about a dozen models in Japan.

So far no accidents have been linked to these defects, according to Toyota. The company said it had received 77 complaints from abroad, 75 of them from the United States and more than 140 reports in Japan. The largest number of vehicles affected was in Japan with nearly 1.3 million units called to review the second time that occurs in the history of the country and involving two different problems. One problem, improper installation consists of a sensor that measures the fuel pressure and could lead to loosening of a nut, as a result of vibration in the engine for some time, and possibly a fuel leak reported the company.

This problem also affects vehicles 280 000 IS and GS, Lexis sold abroad, 255 thousand in North America and 10 000 in Europe. The same problem was found in the Crown and Mark X models, both sold in Japan.
